Lead SQL Server Consultant – London Rate negotiable, but likely to be £700-£750 per day. This role is a consultative type position with my client looking for someone to come in at a high-level and give advice and support to a small development team, so having very strong knowledge of a development environment, is a must. This role is likely to be a long-term ongoing role, but likely to be around 10 days (not necessarily together) initially and then on an adhoc basis with potentially one or two days per month thereafter. My client seeks an experienced Lead MS SQL Server Consultant to provide expert guidance and technical assistance in optimising their in-house ERP system, which is essentially SQL Server hosted on Azure, a Windows 2019 box in the cloud. It is an operational system, that could do much more, but they have some operational problems to fix initially and then move to work on structuring SQL Services and a focus on the Legacy system moving to Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) functionality. The consultant will focus on resolving performance bottlenecks, improving system stability, and ensuring scalability as the business grows. Scope of work: Performance Optimization and Issue Resolution for the Azure SQL Server Consultant: Resolve Blocking and Locking Issues. Deadlock Resolution. System Health Assessment for the Azure SQL Server Consultant: Comprehensive System Health-Check. Ongoing Maintenance Recommendations. Index and Query Optimisation for the Azure SQL Server Consultant: Reliable Reindexing of Tables. Query Timeout Review. Architecture Review and Scalability Planning for the Azure SQL Server Consultant: Review Architecture. Identify System Scaling Issues. Tools and Techniques for Issue Diagnosis for the Azure SQL Server Consultant: Recommend Useful Tools for Problem Analysis. Testing Multi-User Locking Scenarios. Required Qualifications: Proven experience working as a MS SQL server consultant. Strong knowledge of SQL Server indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
